Success

I have brought you glory on earth by completing the work you gave me to do.  John 17:4 [NIV]

What is success?  A vexing question for everyone.

In our culture today, it is common to hear people respect and revere those who are perceived to have money.  But is this a good definition of success?

Consider Jesus's definition of success given in John 17:4 (see above).

The context of this verse is Jesus's prayer to the Father before his arrest and trial. In this prayer, he reflected back on his life and was able to say that he accomplished what the Father created him to do. Hence, Jesus denominated success in life not in dollars, but in obedience to his heavenly Father.

What would your life look like if you defined success the way Jesus did?

How would Jesus's definition of success impact the way you work?
