So you want to start a business—right! May I ask why?
The most common answer that I hear is "to make money". Then if people feel that perhaps it is not the best answer, they hedge their bet by saying something like “I want to be rich so I can give a bunch of money to advance the kingdom of God
.” As noble as this may sound, is it really true or is it simply a cover for greed?
Others may provide answers such as "to support evangelism" or "to influence the world for good" or "to provide jobs" or "to be my own boss" or "to realize my full potential". Some of these answers sound magnanimous and worthwhile, but what would God's answer be?
May I suggest that James 4:13–15 gives us a clue? In this text, we are told that we should preface our business plans with “If it is the Lord’s will.” This clearly intimates that business is about God’s will. So the biblical reason for starting a business is not about fame, fortune, influence or anything else other than discerning and doing God’s will.
If you agree with this, then how do you proceed to start and build a business or organization in accordance with God’s will? Listen to this month's teaching to learn how to use the Beyond Babel Model to build an organization aligned with the will of God.
